Freestanding or wall-mounted, intricate or minimalistic: there are so many ways that you can create the perfect home entertainment centre. Designing your own means that you can build it to your exact specifications, factoring in things like your TV size, the size and shape of your room, and your storage preferences – that’s something you just don’t get with shop-bought units!

Don’t feel like you have to keep it plain or rustic-looking either. You could paint your unit in colours to match your room (like this example) or add some funky back lighting to really make the space stand out.

Short on space? Go for a wall-mounted version! Like to have somewhere you can sit down to put your shoes on? Incorporate a seating cushion into the design! The options are endless.

Okay, so some of these examples have been made using other materials, but there’s no reason why you can’t give these a go using pallet wood. Keep it simple and straightforward by keeping the pallet whole or if you’re up for a challenge then we think these tree bookshelf and chair bookshelf ideas are so impressive and will make a great statement piece in any room.

The boring bit…

As eager as you may be to grab your tools and start whittling away, it’s important that you take the time to familiarise yourself with some safety precautions in order to ensure your project remains safe and enjoyable for all involved.

Here are our two main safety tips:

  • Source your pallet wood from a reputable supplier where you can be sure of the pallet’s history and safeness. Browse our online shop where you’ll find plenty of project-friendly options or get in touch with us for advice.
  • Avoid the risk of splinters and sharp edges by thoroughly sanding your project (you may also wish to finish it with a wax, paint or stain).

Finally, head over to our blog for further inspiration of interior pallet projects. Here you’ll find a huge variety of other ideas, including pallet pet beds, pallet storage solutions, pallet art and more!
